“During his 36 years in Senate, and six years in the U.S. House of Representatives, Grassley has been a consistently strong advocate for Iowans and, nationally, for the taxpayers. He was one of the first in Congress to champion the False Claims Act, which encourages federal employees to blow the whistle on fraud and wasteful spending. He led Senate investigations into defense spending, publicly funded health care consultants and shady nonprofits that benefit from tax-exempt status.”
“He also helped lead the fight for clean, renewable energy, immigration reform and renewed funding for small, rural hospitals. Through it all, he has remained one of the most accessible, most approachable members of Congress – visiting every Iowa county, year after year, without missing any votes in the Senate. He has also fought the Obama administration, quite justifiably, on its dismal record of transparency, arguing that federal agencies have been ignoring the public’s right to know and thwarting access to information by pursuing an agenda that favors secrecy over disclosure.”
“In addition to chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee, Grassley has also led the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Aging Committee, accumulating a broad range of experience and expertise. In the process, he has worked closely with Democrats, and in a study conducted by Georgetown University, Grassley was ranked the Senate’s fifth most bipartisan member.”
“Charles Grassley has earned the support of Iowans, and he deserves another term as their United States senator.”
