As Mexican Drug Cartels Flood Iowa with Fentanyl, Mike Franken would be a Rubber Stamp for Biden’s Open Border
WEST DES MOINES — The Grassley Works campaign today launched a new digital advertisement warning that Mike Franken would be a rubber stamp for Joe Biden’s open border policies, which have invited a wave of deadly fentanyl into Iowa and the nation.
Illicit fentanyl that’s flooding across the southern border is fueling a spike of overdose deaths in Iowa, and has become the leading cause of death among Americans, ages 18-45. Joe Biden’s failed border enforcement policies have emboldened Mexican drug cartels, which are responsible for the vast majority of fentanyl trafficked in the United States.
“President Biden is doing a fabulous job,” Franken says in the ad. He’s also called the border wall “idiotic” and argued that illegally crossing the border is “not a crime.”

BACKGROUND:
Chuck Grassley has been a leader in the fight against fentanyl. He’s introduced legislation to crack down on deadly fentanyl that cartels are now marketing to children and he’s pushed to list deadly fentanyl knockoffs as a Schedule I controlled substance – a move supported by law enforcement and parents who’ve lost children to fentanyl poisoning.
Chuck Grassley is an outspoken advocate for securing the southern border and completing the border wall. Last year Grassley spent two days at the border and met with border patrol officials who said they advised the Biden administration to keep the Trump administration’s border policies in place. Grassley voted for the Secure Fence Act in 2006, which was also supported by Democrats like Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
