Grassley Receives Key Union Endorsement
WEST DES MOINES — Today, the Grassley Works campaign announced Senator Chuck Grassley received a key union endorsement from the Council of Prison Locals-33.
In the letter notifying Grassley of the endorsement, National President Shane Fausey, said in part:
“Senator Chuck Grassley has been a strong ally in the U.S. Senate for federal correctional officers and employees, and today I want you to know that the Council of Prison Locals will be endorsing him for re-election in the state of Iowa. Senator Grassley has showed up when it counted, speaking to Locals and employees to see the vital and dangerous work we do and hear firsthand from us about the issues we face, including staffing cuts, augmentation, and proposed cuts to our pay and retirement benefits.
“Without fail, Senator Grassley has supported our key legislative priorities. Senator Grassley is a co-sponsor on S. 3545, the ‘Federal Prison Accountability Act of 2022’ and S. 2899 the ‘Prison Camera Reform Act of 2022.’ Senator Grassley has had our back, and we want him to know that we have his.”
The Council of Prison Locals-33 represents nearly 30,000 Federal Bureau of Prison employees nationwide.
Grassley has worked across the aisle to improve security camera coverage in federal prisons, and he has worked to address staffing shortages and protect whistleblowers.
