FROM THE DESK OF CHUCK GRASSLEY

MEMORANDUM

TO: Iowans—particularly family farmers

FROM: Senator Chuck Grassley

WARNING: What’s On the Horizon If Senate Democrats Take Over the Agriculture Committee

I’ve been a family farmer for more than sixty years on our fourth generation farm in Butler County. Iowans are proud of our way of life and heritage as the best agriculture state in the nation. I need you to know why November 3rd is one of the most consequential elections for the future of the family farm.  During harvest season, I don’t imagine you have time to worry about how committees of the United States Senate impact your livelihoods. But I feel I ought to do my job and spell out for you what’s on the line should the Democrats flip the Republican Majority in the United States Senate.

REMINDER: Democrats have rejected a new Farm Bill four years in a row. One Democrat even proposed an amendment to this year’s Farm Bill attacking the Renewable Fuel Standard and preventing nationwide, year-round E15. With gas prices as high as they are now, why would you stifle America’s energy production that would harm our ag economy?

Democrat priorities put partisan politics before family farmers. Democrats want to:

  • In the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, Republicans stopped food stamp waste, fraud and abuse. Democrats want to reverse these commonsense measures. Republicans secured tools to curb improper payments and theft in the SNAP food stamp program that cost taxpayers tens of billions of dollars. Democrats want to keep the federal spigot wide open and held the Farm Bill hostage to get their way.
  • Stop increased line speeds at pork processing plants. This would hurt the bottom lines of pig farmers and push up the price of pork at the grocery store.
  • Balloon globalist climate-policy spending. This would add to regulatory uncertainty, raise operating costs for farmers and weaken U.S. food security.

What’s Worse: The Democrat Socialist Party of America (DSA) believes in collective ownership and limits on private property rights. Say goodbye to the family farm and hello to heavy-handed regulations and confiscatory estate and inheritance taxes with socialists in charge.

Bottom Line: Republicans advanced a Farm Bill with every single Democrat voting NO on the Senate Ag Committee. Your vote matters. Iowa can’t afford to hand the keys over to the Democrat Socialist agenda. Vote for the future of family farms and our great state. Vote for Ashley Hinson.
