RELEASE: Grassley Endorsed by Nonpartisan Group No Labels as “Independent Problem Solver”

According to the organization, No Labels’ “Problem Solver Seal of Approval” represents Senator Grassley’s commitment to voters to work with both parties to find solutions.
“Chuck Grassley reports to no party and to no special interest group, only to the people of Iowa,” said Grassley campaign manager Bob Haus. “From sweeping anti-opioid and anti-human trafficking legislation to the passage of a sexual assault survivors’ bill of rights, Senator Grassley’s bipartisan leadership and political independence has made a real difference for this country and for Iowans.”
Under Senator Grassley’s leadership, he has focused the work of the Senate Judiciary Committee on areas where bipartisan consensus can be reached, resulting in an increase in productivity and bipartisanship for the committee. More legislation has been cleared by the committee, more legislation has passed the full Senate and more than twice as much legislation has been signed into law than the previous Congress under Democratic control.
Just this Congress, under Chairman Grassley’s bipartisan leadership, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed and President Obama signed into law the:
- Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act, landmark anti-opioid legislation to improve law enforcement, prevention, education, treatment and recovery, called the “most sweeping drug legislation in years” by the New York Times;
- Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, anti-human trafficking legislation that helps provide federal grant resources for housing of trafficking victims and better training for those that serve runaway, homeless and at-risk youth;
- Survivors Bill of Rights, originally included in the Adam Walsh Reauthorization Act and became law despite Senator Reid holding it up on the Senate floor for days, ensures that survivors of sexual assault cannot be denied or charged for forensic exams and that sexual assault evidence collection kits must be preserved without charge; and
- Defend Trade Secrets Act, which helps American businesses and innovators better address the growing problem of trade secret theft by creating clear rules and predictability in trade secret cases.
This is just a fraction of the bipartisan legislation Senator Grassley has led through his Judiciary Committee, and is in addition to the significant amount of oversight work he does on a regular basis to hold federal departments and agencies, of both Republican and Democratic presidents, accountable to the American public and to Iowans.
Earlier this year, Senator Grassley was ranked in the top 5 for bipartisanship according to a nonpartisan analysis from Georgetown University.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
