Iowa Bankers Endorse Chuck Grassley for Re-Election
“No Public Servant…Has Worked Harder to Make Iowa a Better Place to Live” DES MOINES – The Iowa Bankers Association, which represents the Iowa banks that fuel Iowa’s local economies, small businesses, farmers and job creation, today endorsed Senator Chuck Grassley for re-election to the United States Senate. “I can think of no public servant who has worked harder to make Iowa a better place to live, work and play. Our influential senior senator still has much to offer our state,” said John Sorensen, President and CEO of the Iowa Bankers Association. “I appreciate the support of the community leaders who lend to Iowa’s small businesses and family farmers and make job creation possible for so many Iowans,” Grassley said. “These community institutions play a vital role in making sure there’s the capital needed to invest, grow and build in Iowa.” As former chairman and a current senior member of the Senate Finance Committee and one of the most influential lawmakers in Congress who has led the fight to protect community banks from onerous federal, one-size-fits-all regulation that would destroy jobs and hurt the economy. Most recently, he’s led the charge against the Biden administration’s proposal to report individuals’ low-dollar transactions to the IRS, which would undermine Iowans’ privacy and give the IRS the power to go after Iowans with little-to-no cause. In 2018, Grassley supported bipartisan legislation to loosen Washington’s grip on community banks and end harmful federal regulations that had no positive impact on the lending process. |
