Chuck Grassley Slams Biden Administration for Energy Dependence
WEST DES MOINES — This weekend, Senator Chuck Grassley made campaign stops in Henry County for the Henry County GOP Dinner and Lee County for the Lee County Republican Banquet. As Grassley travels across the state of Iowa, Iowans relay two top concerns: inflation and border security.
Addressing inflation, Grassley told the crowd, “The problem there is the [Biden] administration has changed the energy policies from being energy independent to being energy dependent. He’s in Saudia Arabia right now asking them to export more from us when we’ve got it right here. But you can’t stop drilling. You can’t stop pipelines from being built. You can’t put more regulation on fracking. You can’t tell the banks not to loan money to energy companies without the price shooting up. It’s two dollars more now than before he was president of the United States. It’s not Putin’s fault. It’s President Biden’s fault.”
Grassley also discussed President Joe Biden’s open border policies. He said, “The president believes in an open border for what reasons? I don’t know. He doesn’t ever speak about it. Except, we hear from the Secretary of Homeland Security that we have a secure border. You see it every night on television – it’s not a secure border.”
Grassley encouraged attendees to work hard to elect Republicans up and down the ballot in Iowa to secure Republican majorities in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, so a Republican Congress can be a check on the bad policies of the Biden administration.
So far this year, Grassley has visited 78 of Iowa’s 99 counties to hold his question and answer sessions with Iowans to keep in touch and hear what’s on their minds. Grassley goes to every county, every year since he was first elected to represent Iowans in the U.S. Senate.
