Grassley Works Launches Multi-Platform Ad Campaign

Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley is peppering the state with television, print and radio ads in the runup to the June 7 primary elections.

In the first of two TV spots, Grassley emphasizes his conservative bona fides.

“Our Chuck Grassley is a conservative icon,” the narrator says.

The ad emphasizes Grassley’s votes to build the border wall, his opposition to vaccine mandates, his opposition to President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda and his efforts to confirm conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court.

In the second TV ad, Grassley puts the spotlight on his Democratic opponents’ support for Biden. According to a March Des Moines Register Iowa Poll, just 35% of Iowa adults say they approve of the job Biden is doing as president.

The ad references a moment in the first Democratic Senate primary debate in which each candidate is asked to grade Biden’s performance. All three candidates graded him with a “B.”

“Last year, Democrats took over the Senate, House and White House,” the ad’s narrator says. “Since then, we’ve had huge increases in living costs, a return to dependence on foreign energy, disaster in Afghanistan, skyrocketing crime, an open border. Yet all three Democrats running for U.S. Senate give Biden high marks. They support the Biden agenda without exception. Had enough?”

The television ads will air statewide beginning Wednesday. Three 60-second radio ads focused on Grassley’s conservative credentials and support for Iowa agriculture launched Tuesday. Newspaper ads across the state will also come, his campaign said.
