OUR OPINION: Grassley represents best choice in Iowa’s U.S. Senate race

In other words, he hasn’t lost touch. He remains one of us, his “How ya doin’?” greeting as welcomingly familiar within this state as the fall harvest.”
“Grassley remains a powerful, influential figure (he is chairman of the Judiciary Committee and a senior member of the Finance, Budget and Agriculture committees) and advocate for key sectors of Iowa, including agriculture and renewable energy; a champion for federal government openness and accountability and a watchdog over waste in federal spending; and a conservative stalwart who stands for smaller government, fewer regulations, and lower taxes. He also is a lawmaker who, because he earns respect on either side of the political aisle, works quietly and effectively with both Republicans and Democrats.”
