Editorial: Return Grassley, Young and King to Washington

In the Senate race, economic policy provides a central distinction between the candidates. Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley emphasized that the private sector is the engine of job creation and growth, while his Democratic opponent repeatedly framed economic policy in terms of what politicians in Washington can do. In praise of Sen. Grassley

Endorsement: Grassley’s next six years should reflect bipartisanship of last 36

During his 36 years in Senate, and six years in the U.S. House of Representatives, Grassley has been a consistently strong advocate for Iowans and, nationally, for the taxpayers. He was one of the first in Congress to champion the False Claims Act, which encourages federal employees to blow the whistle on fraud and wasteful spending. He led Senate investigations into defense spending, publicly funded health care consultants and shady nonprofits that benefit from tax-exempt status. Read More

Our opinion: Despite concerns, re-elect Grassley

Grassley has a long record of working hard on many issues, especially those supporting Iowa, public access to government, consumers and whistleblowers. OUR OPINION: Grassley represents best choice in Iowa’s U.S. Senate race

Sending Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley back to Washington every six years has become something of an Iowa tradition. Rarely do his political opponents put much of a dent in his re-election bandwagon. He harvests votes like corn, by the bushel. Read More

Sen. Charles Grassley is a keeper

Some politicians go to Washington and forget the folks back home except when elections are near. Sen. Charles Grassley, Iowa's senior United States senator, isn't one of them. He has a well-deserved reputation as a public servant who keeps in close touch with his constituents. Read More

MEMO: A Look Ahead At The Final Three Weeks Of The Iowa Senate Campaign

For Patty, Past is Prologue: No Enthusiasm, No Campaign Presence, No Talk of the Issues. For an indication of what to expect from Patty Judge in the final three weeks, a look back at the previous three weeks tells the story of a campaign that lacks grassroots enthusiasm, lacks a consistent presence on the campaign trail and lacks a clear, positive message with solutions to the concerns of Iowans.
